Hamstring Tenden transplantation for the Treatment of the Ligamentous Injuries of the Knee



Abstract
With increasing tendency of knee joint injury, there are many attempts to sec+ire stable knee through operative reconstruction of disturbed knee joint stability. Also there are invariable argument , on anatomy, physiology and kinetics of normal and abnormal knee joints. But all the efforts intended to make sire of patients return to there normal life with stables knee joint. Sixty-eight cases of knee joint injuries were treated at the orthopaedic department of Sacred Heart Hospital Choong Ang University during the period from January 1969 to December 1973, mainly by the method of utilizing hamstring muscles in reconstructive procedure.
Through this study, the following results mere obtained.
1. Twenty-two cases of medial collateral ligament injury were treated by Bosworth-Fenton procedure and results were excellent in 1G cases, good in 4 cases, poor in 2 cases.
2. Walton¢¥s procedure was applied to 4 cases of anteromedial rotatory instability and in two of them, the result wad excellent and one was faller in good categor}.
3. In 4 cases of lateral collateral ligament injury treated by biceps tendon transposition, result were excetlent in 2, good in 1, poor in 1, respectively.
4. Three patients of cruciate ligament injury were also treated by semitendinosus muscle transpopition with good result.
